The environmental Audit shall mean a management tool comprising a systematic, documented, periodic and objective evaluation of the performance of the organization, management system and processes design to protect the environment with the aim:
- facilitating management control of practices which may have an impact on the environment
- assessing compliance with the environmental policy, including environmental objectives and targets of the organization (annex II).
Regulation (EC) No. 761/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 19 March 2001, allowing voluntary participation by organizations in a Community Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).
